Greplin, search yours in cloud;

Posted on Updated on

Hello everyone;
Hows was your weekend; Hope you have refilled your energy for next working days; Well I did the same, met my school fellows (yes we five friends are still friends since school benches) weekly home tasks, some outing with kids etc;

Todays topic is really interesting and helpful, atleast  for me; I was reading some articles on techcrunch and i found Greplin, a user-authorized search that can access and search within Google mail, Calendar, Documents, Salesforce, Twitter, Facebook and more; Greplin can also search posts and documents shared by friends’ accounts; The site launched in late February and now people are comparing Greplin to Google in terms of search area domain and quickness; Me too impressed with instant search done by greplin; It searched in all my cloud’s data and everything in front of my;

The thing which really made me hurryyyyyy  is its Chrome browser extension to take that search box with you; Now you can search your every presence over the web with just single click, and it really made my thumb up for developer’s efforts;

Usage is really simple;

  1. Create account on http://www.greplin.com;
  2. Chose your services that you want to include in greplin search; You will find almost everything; Google mail, calendar, google dos, google contact, google app services, Facebook, yammer etc;
  3. After step 2, just start typing in search field and see everything there,  grouped by services you add in your account;

Thats it; For me, all of my google services are at one place; My gmail, goole calendar, address book and my google document;

Here are the screenshots when i used it with my different web presences; Click them for large view;

Services offered by greplin to connect;

Initially i connected my google accounts (gmail, docs, calendar, contacts) and two social networks (facebook, twiitter)

And this is how Griplin search and group your query;

You can search directly from your toolbar using greplin extension;

Greplin CEO is Daniel Gross, a 19 , born in Jerusalem, Israel; Gross said he came up with the idea while he was on his way to a party in 2009; He couldn’t remember where it was and needed to search through Gmail and Facebook, separately, to find the address a friend sent him. “This should exist” Gross said of Greplin, which is a combination of the words “grep”—a computer-programming term related to searching files—and “zeppelin” a reference to the online “cloud”

Updated on 27th Jan, 2k11: The iPhone App is also available for greplin; You can find it here on itunes;

Dont forget to vote for this post; Will not cost more then 2 clicks of yours;
